How do I access the Micromedex app on a mobile device?
Answer
The LSC Libraries' subscription to the health science database Micromedex includes access to the Micromedex mobile app for LSC students and faculty. While the app itself is free to download from the relevant app store, you will need an activation code from the database to open it.
Step 1: Download the Micromedex App
Visit the app store for your mobile device and search for "Micromedex." The app should be by Meriative L.P. and have an icon that looks like a pill with lines next to it.
If off-campus, you will see a pop-up box asking you to login. You can use either your myLoneStar email and password (option 1) or your 14-digit library barcode number.
Once the database opens, click on the link for "Mobile Access" in the top right navigation bar.
This opens the Mobile Micromedex page. Select the first button "Micromedex Mobile App Access (included with subscription)" to open for more information.
Open the mobile app on your device. It should display an activation code.
On the desktop database page, click the link that says "Follow the link to activate new mobile app."
Enter the activation code showing on your app and select "Activate Device."
If successful, you should see a green box pop-up that reads "Device activated."
The app will give a confirmation and then should now open and let you access the content.
